What's Going On?

The last few days nothing has been going on exce_t for the usual day to day stuff, so nothing to _ost. I do _lan on taking a walk through town and getting some shots of the colourful little homes and sho_s in Dewey on Friday or Saturday.

My new measures to combat those little beasties that have been attacking me seem to be working. However, I do not like to close the door at 6m and turn on the a/c. I love the fresh air and my view, but I will live with it because I want to start daily swimming on Monday.

Oh, and a cold front seems to have come through. The highs yesterday and today are only 81F with a nice breeze. No rain at all, not even a quick shower. Actually, it is just about right for me. This just made me think about my friend in Hong Kong who will be leaving for a tri_ to Antarctica in a few days. He told me yesterday that they had just come back from buying suitable clothing - brrrrrr.

I ho_e that wherever you are Mother Nature has been kind to you.

Boat in for lunch

Yes, at Mamacita's, just like at Dinghy Dock, you can tie your boat u_ and jum_ right onto the deck of the restaurant.

At Dinghy Dock you feed the Tar_on and at Mamacita's you don't feed the Iguanas.

OMG

A few minutes later, after the lady had finished her tomato, she was relaxing on to_ of the railing where she knew HE could not go. He, on the other hand, was des_erately trying to climb the wall to the railing. Sorry fellow, but you are just too big. After a few minutes he gave u_ and went over to her. He on the deck and she on the railing. It was just too funny to watch his antics and her just ignoring him.

Mamacita's

First, he gets her tail.
Thank you Amanda. I love lettuce.
A long time.

For lunch today I thought I would go across the bridge and two buildings down to Mamacita's. It is just across the canal from me. On Saturday nights I can hear the conga drums (will go one Saturday). I can see the restaurant from my balcony.

I ordered what they call a fish taco, but it is more like a burrito. It was delicious, but so big that I have dinner in the fridge. One taco and a coke cost 17 dollars and change!!! But the entertainment was free.

Because the mangroves grow right u_ to the restaurant there are lots of iguanas and they are not shy. One fellow came to Amanda, the waitress, to be fed lettuce. After his snack he went out on the hustle. He found a lady friend and he _roceeded to "do it" not two feet from me. First he grabbed her tail in his mouth to sto_ her from getting away and then - well the _hotos say the rest. This was not a slam.......thank you m'am. He was at it for quite a while and then it a__eared as if they were taking a little na_, but in the same _osition, so who knows.

Amanda brought out a slice of tomato and _laced it close to them. He let the female u_ and she took the tomato and ate it. Amanda ex_lained that in iguana culture the males let the _regnant females eat first. Was she _regnant? _robably she was because Amanda said that this macho male just couldn't get enough of the ladies.

Who is that fellow with me? I have no idea, but he was nice. He asked if I wanted my _hoto taken and took three (not _osted because they are terrible). Then he said that if I wanted a good shot to have one taken with him. His lady friend took the shot.

Fishing

At this moment there is a man out front fishing. He has his cooler on a luggage carrier (you remember those things we used before suitcases with wheels) and on to_ of the cooler is his tackle box. He is a little difficult to see in the _alms. In the other _hoto he is taking a break from his hard work.

Really teed off

I had a grand o_ertunity to go to Tamarindo today, but declined. Why? Because I knew that it would be too stressful to be on that beach and not go in the sea.

Why wouldn't I go in? Because my legs are so scratched and raw that I am afraid of the sea water and infection. No, No, you say. Salt water is good. Yes, that is true, but a few years ago I was hiking in Carriacou and scra_ed my knee on the _ath. The _aths are made of coral. Within hours I went to the sea to bathe my leg in the salt water thinking I was doing the right thing. Within 24 hrs my leg was so swollen that a day later I (yes, me) went to the local doctor. Dr. Ram had me on 10 antibiotics a day (a few different ones) and said that if there was no im_rovement within three days I would need to fly to a hos_ital in order to save my leg from am_utation. I told him that I had gone to bathe in seawater because I thought that this was a good thing and he told me never to do that. Salt water is good, but the seas nowadays are too _olluted for that and it contributed to this massive infection. Fortunately, I lived through it and still have both legs, but it took almost a month for the infection and swelling to subside.

So, I am taking no chances this time. When my raw, scratched bites are healed I will be delighted to be able to _lay in the sea. I dream of floating in the sea because that is what I love. If I continue with the _olicies I have initiated, I think I will be ready in about three days.

Thank God I am not here for just a few weeks.
